To meet the USDA organic regulations, farmers and processors must show they aren’t using GMOs and that they are protecting their products from contact with prohibited substances, such as GMOs, from farm to table."

WASHINGTON — The organic food industry is gaining influence on Capitol Hill, prompted by its entry into traditional farm states and by increasing consumer demand.

The Vermont House voted 107-37 on Thursday to advance a bill that would require the labeling of foods derived from genetically modified organisms. Way to go, Vermont!
