Congratulations to La Farge Area Schools!
After five months of intense competition, the Organic Trade Association (OTA) is proud to announce that La Farge Area Schools has won the “Organic. It’s Worth It in Schools” contest. The district generated 5, 987 votes, edging out William S. Covert Elementary School, the runner-up, by 798 votes. In honor of its success, LaFarge will be awarded a fully stocked organic vending machine, which will contain an assortment of organic products from which the school’s 253 students can choose.
More Than 1,100 Schools Believe "Organic. It’s Worth It."
Since it began in January 2010, over 1,100 schools across the United States participated in the "Organic. It’s Worth It in Schools" campaign. Chef Alice Waters Works to Bring Local and Organic Foods to Schools
Chef Alice Waters has been a proponent of local and organic food for nearly four decades. Unfortunately, her call for sustainable approaches to farming and good nutrition in schools long fell on deaf ears.
