New  York  State Gives Organic Lawn Care Two Thumbs Up
Falling on the heels of its passage of the Child Safe Playing Fields Act, which banned the use of chemical pesticides on school grounds, New York State has initiated the Be Green organic lawn care program. The program, which is operated by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, promotes training and licensing of organic lawn care providers, making it easier for homeowners to identify lawn care companies that use sustainable and organic practices.

It’s an all-too-common story:  adults ask kids where their food comes from and they answer “the grocery store,” rather than the farm. When they heard these words uttered from their children’s mouths, Theresa Franklin and Lisa Mann took decided to take matters into their own hands and educate their children about the true roots of food.
