It seems like every other day someone mentions to me how they would like to buy organic but it's so expensive. And I completely sympathize. Our food economy has yet to catch up to our food ideals in this country, which means most of the time people need to make difficult choices between what they would like and what they can afford.
If you are on a budget and purchase a mix of both organic and non-organic produce (like I do), here is a link to an article on CNN.com that came out earlier this week which puts pesticide risks in VERY plain terms. Basically, there are roughly 12 soft-skinned fruits and vegetables that are most susceptible and which can contain between 47 and 67 pesticides PER SERVING.
I'm not being alarmist. That's a fact, unfortunately.
But I'm all about turning a bummer into a breakdance.
