Crust
Feel free to use whatever is available
- French Bread, split lengthwise
- Pita or Flatbread
- Prebaked Pizza Shells
- If using refrigerated pizza or bread dough, please follow manufacturer instructions for preparing and shaping dough
Topping
Organic Italian Sausage - 4 sausages, sliced
1 cup tomato sauce
Provolone Cheese - 1 package, cut into strips
Optional Toppings
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup sliced olives
1 chopped green pepper
1 chopped tomato
*Omit sausage for a vegetarian version
Preheat oven to 400°
Divide sauce evenly among the pizza crusts
Top each with sausage, optional vegetables and cheese
Transfer pizzas to baking sheet
If using raw dough, dust baking sheet with cornmeal, or brush lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking. Bake until cheese is melted and golden brown and pizza is heated through, about 8-10 minutes If using raw dough, additional cooking time is necessary. Bake until crust is golden brown and no longer doughy in the center, about 12-15 minutes (lift edge of pizza with a spatula and check the bottom crust for doneness before removing from the oven)
