Mention “container gardening” and most people will automatically think of flowers, but recently, vegetables too have found their way into the world of container gardening.

There are good reasons for the popularity of container gardening. For the ever-increasing number of apartment and condo dwellers who long to grow some of their own food, it’s often the only option. For many renters, it’s the answer to landlords who aren’t keen to have lawns uprooted for a veggie patch. And for potential gardeners frustrated by poor soil that they have neither the time nor energy to amend, it’s the perfect solution. Container gardening is also ideal for seniors or anyone with limited mobility, as containers can be placed at whatever height is most comfortable.
