Answer: In general, yes.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “certified organic” label is not an eco-label per se, and does not guarantee that products so labeled are more “environmentally friendly” than non-organic ones. However, the food production and handling practices prescribed by the USDA organic regulations are deeply rooted in environmental stewardship and resource conservation. Consumers are attracted to organic food purchases for environmental reasons. Many advocates maintain that environmental benefits accompanying organic farming methods are well documented and the most important reasons for choosing organic food and fiber products.
