On a recent trip to Whole Foods Market in Hadley, MA, our Savvy Organic Shopper found competitive prices on organic ingredients to make one of her simplest quick-fix dinners: pasta and tomato sauce. While there, she found a 1-pound box of organic rigatoni for $2.99; the same size box of conventional rigatoni was $1.79. She also found a 25.5 ounce jar of Muir Glen Garden Vegetable organic pasta sauce for $4.69, and a 24-ounce jar of conventional pasta sauce for $3.49. So, for $2.40 more – that’s only cents more per serving – she was able to prepare an easy, flavorful, organic meal for her family without worrying that it contained harmful pesticides, GMOs or artificial ingredients. Now that’s a good deal!
