As we’ve mentioned before, our Savvy Organic Shopper is a big fan of quick-fix meals—particularly when she is able to find affordably priced organic ingredients with which to make them. Needless to say, she was pleased to discover that Woodman’s in Madison, WI offered competitive prices on ingredients for one of her favorite quick-fix combinations: tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. She found organic tomato soup priced at $2.39 (conventional was $1.19); a loaf of sliced organic wheat bread for $3.19 (conventional was $2.19); and Organic Valley cheddar cheese for $3.79 (conventional was $2.49). Although the organic items were slightly more expensive, our Savvy Organic Shopper knew that they were made without the use of toxic pesticides, synthetic hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, or artificial ingredients. So, she took them, knowing that for her and her family, organic was the healthier choice.
