Our Savvy Organic shopper decided to make up a batch of smoothies for her family to enjoy while they were on vacation at Niagara Falls. She drove to a local Wegmans on Niagara Fall Boulevard to pick up ingredients. While she was there, she found organic strawberries priced at $3.49 for 16 oz. (non-organic were $2.49 for the same quantity), organic bananas for $.69 per lb. (non-organic were .49 per lb.), plain organic yogurt for $3.79 for 32 oz. (non-organic was $1.99), and Simply Organic Vanilla Extract for $4.69 (non-organic was 4.99). Given the small price difference and the fact that the organic ingredients were made without the use of toxic pesticides, synthetic growth hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, or artificial ingredients, our Savvy Organic Shopper grabbed the organic items, headed home, and looked forward to enjoying delicious organic smoothies with her family, surrounded by the majestic falls.
